I built the [Garage](https://frodigo.com/) as a space for programmers who value traditional coding. A place where we write code ourselves, where AI doesn't use us — we use AI. A small rebellion against the vibe coding era. It was a romantic idea. _Eviva l'arte!_ and all that. But I'm shutting it down. The website at frodigo.com will no longer be available, and the project won't be continued. Website content will be available on [GitHub repository](https://github.com/RetroModernDev/garage). ## Why? Because my resistance was pointless. Big tech companies have already decided for all of us. AI is not a direction for the future. It's the present. Fighting it felt like standing in front of a train and asking it to slow down. The train doesn't care. I still believe that understanding code matters. I still think that writing your first function yourself teaches you something that no AI-generated output ever will. But spending energy on resistance? That's a losing game. I'd rather spend that energy on creating things. ## What I'm doing now I shifted my focus. Instead of fighting AI, I have put my energy into these things: - **Restoring old computers** — I'm into retro hardware, especially Commodore Amiga. Recapping, repainting cases, bringing old machines back to life. - **Playing games** — retro and modern. Rediscovering what made me fall in love with computers in the first place. - **Creating games and apps with AI** — instead of resisting the technology, I use it to make things. That feels much better than complaining. ## Where to find me I started a new brand called **RetroModern.dev** — where retro meets modern. Also I changed my nickname everywhere from Frodigo to RetroModernDev. Yeah, I have started a new digital life. :) - **YouTube**: [youtube.com/@RetroModernDev](https://www.youtube.com/@RetroModernDev) - **Website**: [retromodern.dev](https://retromodern.dev/) - **Medium** (English): [medium.com/@RetroModernDev](https://medium.com/@RetroModernDev) The YouTube channel and website are in Polish, but let's be honest — with today's translation tools, that's not really a barrier anymore. You can also find me on [X](https://x.com/RetroModernDev) · [Instagram](https://instagram.com/retromoderndev) · [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@retromoderndev) · [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/retromoderndev/) ## RSS If you followed the Garage via RSS, here are the new feeds: - Website: [retromodern.dev/feed](https://retromodern.dev/feed/) - Medium: [medium.com/feed/@RetroModernDev](https://medium.com/feed/@RetroModernDev) ## Good bye The Garage was a good idea at a wrong time. Or maybe at the right time — it helped me realize that resisting tools is not the same as preserving craft. You can use AI and still care about quality. You can vibe code and still understand what's happening under the hood. I just don't want to spend my time configuring rebellion anymore. I'd rather restore an Amiga 600 and make a video about it. See you on the other side. Bye!
